Meghan Deese Dahl (2001-05) is currently appearing in "Snakes and Ladders" the inaugural production of The Pacific Play Company (Seattle). Shows run through July 9, 2011.
This summer's Heartland Festival at UW - Platteville features three Kids alumni in multiple productions. John Dobbratz (2007-10) portrays Marshall Duke in "Murder Rides Again", Kenickie in "Grease", and Olin Brett in "The Music Man". Cameron Meilecke (2008) is Johnny/Bonnie Bingo (Murder Rides Again), Dooley (Grease), and Jacey Squires (Music Man). Jens Jacobson (2008-09) is Roger (Grease) and Tommy Djilas (Music Man).
Three additional alumni are also involved with this year's Heartland Festival. Connie Saloutos Furlan (1979-81) choreographed all three shows. Karl Busch (2000-02) plays woodwinds in the pit orchestra. He is joined by his father Marty Busch (1973-75 ) who plays trombone in the pit orchestra for "The Music Man."

Our Choral Director and Chief Orchestrator, Taras Nahirniak, was one of the cast of two in the play, Souvenir, presented by the Madison Theatre Guild at the Bartell Theatre. The play is the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a new York socialite and tone-deaf diva who thought she was a great soprano. Taras plays the role of Cosme McMoon who is her wry accompanist.
TJ Terrien (2005) and his group, "Damn Fashion," have released their first EP on iTunes.

Kevin Barthel (1991) appeared as a member of The Jordanaires in the Fireside Theater's (Fort Atkinson) production of "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline". Shows ran May 5 - June 26, 2011.

Mark Juds (1969) was named 2010 Engineer of the Year by the Engineers and Scientists of Milwaukee at the annual engineer's week banquet on February 17. Mark is a principal engineer in the Innovation Center at Eaton Corporation where he is a technology leader in the areas of heat transfer, electromagnetics, mechanical dynamics and electro-mechanical systems. He holds a BSME from UW-Madison and an MSME from UW-Milwaukee. Mark has 39 patents and one trade secret, has written 29 publications and taught at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and UWM. Mark played trombone in the very first KIDS troupe and is now a member of the Board of Directors. Our hearty congratulations go to Mark!
Phil Smyth (2008-2010) has auditioned for and been accepted as guitarist with "Barrage", a musical group that was founded in Calgary, Canada. In addition to one guitar, the group is composed of five violinists, a drum kit player, and a bass player. Known for an eclectic mix of music, "Barrage" travels all over the world touring for more than 30 weeks out of the year.
Phil Smyth (2008-10) won the Alice Peet Faust Concerto Competition and performed the 1st movement of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the UW-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra on May 4, 2011. Congratulations Phil!
Krista Porchetta (2005-06) has been accepted to perform at Disney in Paris.

Gail Bennett (1999) will portray Janet Van De Graff in the 3D Theatricals production of the Tony Award-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone. The show runs Feb. 11-27 at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, CA.
Andy Talen (2006) appeared in Chicago's Glass Onion Theater's productions of Romeo and Juliet and A Mid-Summer's Night's Dream. Performances ran through May 10, 2011.
Adam Laird (2001-02) is on tour with the 25th Anniversary U.S. National Tour of Les Miserables. The current tour schedule runs through August 2011 with stops in Madison and Milwaukee.
